My Counselling Approach

I offer you a confidential, empathic, and non-judgemental space for us to explore your challenges together.

I will work collaboratively with you using a range of therapeutic approaches to suit your needs. These include Body and Somatic work, EMDR-informed, Internal Family Systems, EFT and CBT.

In couples therapy I use Emotionally Focused Therapy and Gottman to explore the patterns and the primary emotions.

You might also be wanting support to avoid reaching crisis point, to process past events, or to deal with relationships in your life now. You may feel lost, scared, overwhelmed, stressed and alone.

In our body we carry unprocessed trauma from our past. The body has the key, so somatic work is part of the process.

How I Work

I offer an integrative approach to psychotherapy, drawing on a range of evidence-based therapies to meet your individual needs.

Together, we explore not only the challenges you are facing today but also the adaptive ways your mind and body learned to survive difficult experiences.

I believe many of the difficulties we experience are not signs of something being "wrong" with us, but understandable survival responses that once helped us cope.

Therapy offers a safe space to understand these patterns with compassion and develop new ways of relating to yourself and others.

Somatic Therapy

Trauma affects both the mind and the body. Alongside talking therapy, somatic therapy uses gentle body awareness and nervous system regulation to help process overwhelming experiences and reduce the impact of long-held stress, anxiety, and trauma responses.

Attachment-Focused EMDR

Attachment-Focused EMDR combines EMDR with attachment theory to help heal the effects of relational and developmental trauma. It supports the processing of painful memories while placing particular emphasis on creating safety, trust, and a secure therapeutic relationship.

Internal Family Systems

Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a gentle, compassionate approach to therapy that helps you understand the different parts of yourself. Rather than seeing these parts as problems, IFS helps you approach them with curiosity and compassion, creating space for healing, greater self-understanding, and lasting emotional change.

Complex PTSD (C-PTSD)

Complex PTSD often develops after prolonged or repeated trauma, particularly in childhood or within important relationships.

Alongside the core symptoms of PTSD, you may experience:

  • Intrusive memories, flashbacks, or nightmares
  • Feeling constantly on guard (hypervigilance)
  • Avoiding reminders of past experiences
  • Shame, guilt, or a persistent negative view of yourself
  • Difficulty managing emotions, including anxiety, anger, or depression
  • Feeling disconnected from yourself (depersonalisation)
  • Difficulties trusting others or forming healthy relationships

Rather than seeing these only as symptoms, I understand them as adaptations your nervous system developed to help you survive. Therapy can help you make sense of these responses, find greater emotional regulation, and build healthier relationships with yourself and others.
